- The screen resolutions are my personal
recommendations for best viewing quality of the images
AFTER resizing to the resolution listed. 1280x1024 will
require resizing UP from the 1280x960 image which is the
default output of the DC120 camera. All other resolutions
will be resized DOWN. Note that a resize from 1280x960 to 1280x1024 will
slightly distort the image horizontally, due to the change in aspect
ratio. The DC120 uses 4:3 aspect ratio.
- My personal choice for resizing of images
is Paint Shop Pro which can be obtained from JASC Inc. My settings for JPEG files are 300dpi
resolution and Quality 15. This results in very little
quality loss but also larger JPEG files. (Although still
considerably smaller than the bitmap originals.)
- These values are taken from my DC120
camera. They are representative of the minimum
(generally) number of images that can be stored.
Exceptional circumstances may result in less images but
it is usually possible to store more. e.g. images with
large areas of the same color or texture which will
compress better.
- The possible print size will largely depend on the image
enhancement capabilities of your printer driver, or graphics editing
package, and your own perception of image quality. You may be willing to
accept the quality drop of larger print sizes than those listed
- This is the size of the image stored in
the memory of the camera or card. When copied to the
computer the images will be much larger unless you use
the native .KDC format, which cannot be
read by most graphics packages. Paint Shop Pro can read this format
directly, but cannot save in this format.
